Blog of curiosities by Atiyab Zafar

Our minds are finite, and yet even in those circumstances of finitude, we are surrounded by possibilities that are infinite, and the purpose of human life is to grasp as much as we can out of that infinitude. (Alfred North Whitehead)

About me

I am a PhD scholar in Physics, currently enrolled in Delhi University, Delhi India. I am working on the field of complex systems. Primarily my research deals with mathematical modeling of adaptive systems and I also study networks, and agent-based models of social and epidemiological dynamics. My research interests include statistical physics, dynamical systems, network science, graph theory, criticality and collapse dynamics in complex systems.

You can find more details on the About me and Projects pages.

Research & projects

  • Projects overview – other simulations and ongoing work (network science, ecological interactions, etc.).

  • Agent Based Modelling for Covid-19 – disease prevention measures in heterogeneous communities, migration and lockdown effects.

  • Code and experiments: see my GitHub profile (link in the header).

Books & reading

Reading has always been a very important part of my life. I read while travelling, in my idle time, in between long simulations, when I need a break from research. I think I would not be able to survive my PhD without books. So this section is dedicated to my enjoyment of reading. I write short reflections and reviews on books I enjoy but I know it is not as frequent as I wish it to be; a curated list is here:
